Contemplative Prayer Garden
Our contemplative prayer garden is a beautiful space for quiet reflection under old growth trees. A pergola with bench seating offers a place for both reflection and conversation. Benches facing a flowering tree are a gift from the Episcopal Church Women of the Diocese of Long Island in memory of The Right Reverend Orris G. Walker Jr. (1943-2015).

“In the stillness of the garden, the soul exhales—And God is breathed, not grasped.”

Emmaus Chapel
Our guest house chapel welcomes the sun beaming through beautiful stained glass windows and doors that open onto a south facing terrace. Morning Prayer, Compline, and Contemplative Prayer are regularly offered by cathedral clergy, Mercer School faculty and guests.

“At Walker House, prayer is not escape, but return—a homecoming to the quiet within, where God has been waiting all along. Here, the soul remembers its rhythm, and the heart relearns the grace of breathing.”
—Canon Michael Sniffen, Dean of Long Island
